1MTLP - One Million Tree Liberia Project

The "One Million Trees Liberia Project"1MTLP) is a vital initiative aimed at combating climate change Liberia. 1MTLP addresses the critical challenges of mangrove degradation and coastal. By emphasizing community engagement, reforestation, and sustainable cooking practices, the project seeks to enhance community resilience, improve adaptive capacity, promote health and well-being. Launched in its first phase across five coastal communities in Montserrado County, 1MTLP shares the stories of those affected by coastal erosion while planting trees to provide natural coastal defense. Additionally, the project includes planting fruit trees to alleviate poverty and supplying medicinal plants to address common health concerns in these communities.

Beach clean-up campaigns

Beach clean-up campaigns, climate justice activism campaigns, and calls for the Environmental Protection Agency to make climate change a subject in schools have also been launched. Companies that contribute to greenhouse emissions have also been called upon to pay for the damage they cause to the environment.

These projects have had a significant impact on coastal communities, particularly the youth and vulnerable indigenous groups. The trees planted in these communities serve as coastal resilience, helping to reduce sea erosion and storm breaks. The beach clean-up campaigns help reduce plastic pollution in marine and mangrove wetlands, protecting aquatic species.

Through the climate justice campaign, the government was able to provide some resources to flood, sea erosion, and storm victims to sustain their livelihoods. We continue to advocate for loss and damage for vulnerable people, as they are the most affected by climate change.

Beach clean-up campaigns

The ocean is a crucial component of our planet's ecosystem, but it is currently facing a significant challenge in the form of pollution. To address this issue, beach cleaning has emerged as a practical and impactful solution. By taking proactive measures to clean up our beaches, we can play a vital role in safeguarding our marine life. We invite you to join us in this critical mission to preserve our beaches and oceans for future generations.
